This album has been a revelation for me this week. It will pull at the nostalgic heartstrings of all the 30+ year olds who listened to punk rock in the early 2000’s. The Homeless Gospel Choir is the band we all wished we could be in that persevered through thick and thin to make you feel guilty about giving up and getting that office job. Listening to this somehow allows you to relive that teenage angst in adult form fighting against depression, college debt, cops, and the slow impending doom of adulthood. There is a fine line between coming off as a whiny millennial and an articulate critic of modern society. Thankfully it is more the latter the than the former. This album has kept me coming back for more, and has been on heavy rotation since I discovered it. It is a good reminder that you’re never gonna be normal cause you’re a punk.
